Gentle on My Mind: Two versions.

July 6, 2024 by Blogfinger

A Blogfinger reader suggested this video.  He said, “Incredible! I’d always heard that Glenn Campbell was first known as one of Nashville’s greatest studio musicians; now I see why!”

Here he is with “a terrific guitar break…”  Glenn recorded this in 1967.

And here is a 2015 version, almost 50 years later, nominated at the Grammys  and performed by “The Band Perry”  The audio is much better than on the You Tube above:

Before finding fame as a solo artist, Glen Campbell was a member of the Wrecking Crew, a LA group of enormously talented studio session musicians in the 60s and 70s who played on hundreds of top 40 hits of the day .

Anyone interested in learning more about them may wish to watch the 2008 movie “The Wrecking Crew” made by Denny Tedesco, son of Wrecking Crew guitarist Tommy Tedesco. Leon Russell was another prominent member of the Wrecking Crew.

Paul enjoyed the two versions of Gentle on my Mind. Must say I’m a little more armored with Glen Campbell’s, but both were enjoyable.
    Thanks
    Mary
