Here is a Blogfinger post about the earliest years of Ocean Grove:
It is true that the earliest housing in the Grove, which was founded in 1869, were tents. But the popularity of this religious Camp Meeting community surged quickly, and within a few years the first cottages were built. This is undoubtedly one of the earliest houses in town.
As expected, most historic homes in the Grove have been remodeled, and in recent years such rebuilds have to be approved by the HPC.
It is a disgrace that Neptune township would take the side of predators—OGNED—-who are about to be able to sidestep the HPC thanks to the Neptune Township Committee which prefers to favor exploiters, some of whom live in town, rather than the tax paying citizens–We-the- People.
When will the Historical Society of Ocean Grove leave their clubhouse on Pitman and publicly defend the HPC? And if they have, let them send us the text to publish here on Blogfinger. Or else send it to the APP, the DEP, the Governor, and NJ.com. Forget the Home Owners Association. They are just bystanders.
