Greetings from the neighbors: Blogfinger at home

March 4, 2024 by Blogfinger

Eileen Goldfinger models her handmade hat and scarf on our  porch. 2022.  Blogfinger.net photo.

Paul Goldfinger, Editor, Blogfinger.net, Ocean Grove, NJ, USA.  (Home of the Brave and Land of the Free—usually.)

Eileen and I sent Michael, son #2,  to BU, but all she got was this sweatshirt.  Boston is a great city, and we liked to visit him.  He was the Photo Editor of the Boston University Free Press, an independent daily.

In OG E.  is an innovative cook, gardener, and designer.  She had a sign in the living room which said, “If Mom can’t find it, nobody can.”    But now the sign is missing and she can’t find it.

She lurks in the background as an editor of Blogfinger. One of her jobs is to count hyphens and apostrophes while proofreading it all.

We’re both excited over the birth of our new grand-daughter Evie-Rose. Her name is actually Evelyn  Rose Goldfinger,  and we have had some learned discussions about nicknames for her.  We like Evie-Rose  (Like “every”)  But there is still uncertainty about that nickname.

Most would say “no hyphen” but as you may have noticed on Blogfinger, I like hyphens.  (as in Avon-By-The-Sea.). In the long run, her friends will decide. Meanwhile I am waiting for certainty from Mom and Dad.  Noah calls her, “Evelyn.”

Paul Goldfinger, Editor Blogfinger.net in my Leonard Cohen look. Or is it Ray Charles?  Ocean Grove 2022.

I’ve given up my OG darkroom after many years honing my skills. Digital has replaced all that for me, but some photographers  continue that vintage craft, and actually more and more are returning to film and darkroom.

But now, I like the idea of showing my work on-line, however  an image may look fine on my computer screen, but I never know how it looks on yours.

But on-line, Blogfinger.net,  I get to reveal my invention of “multi-media still photography” which is satisfying for me because the interpretation of the presentation is multi-dimensional.   (Look at my photo below of “Grover Girls” and you will see what I mean.).

If a digital photo gets printed (I send it out) then the final look is up to me, but I do that only rarely if someone wants a print.

I participated in the Art on the Porch with Betsy and Katy, and that event was a wonderful and original OG highlight.

All those prints displayed on our OG porch were dark room silver gelatin by me;  and also are all available for sale.   But 2024 may  be different.

Meanwhile publishers in Taiwan  want to use my “Paris Waiters” book cover print,  and I agreed. I don’t know if the book will appear in English, but my photo is the same in any language.

Below  is a photographer who visited our porch, and such visits were rewarding and unique. We can talk about the art and the craft of photography.
