She won the most Grammy’s this year; “Kill Bill” was the number one song and record of the year.
I like the music (production and melody) but the lyrics are disgraceful. The singer’s boyfriend has found a new love, so her solution is to murder the two of them:
“Uh, I just killed my ex (my ex)Not the best idea (idea)Killed his girlfriend next, how’d I get here?I just killed my ex (my ex)I still love him, though (I do)Rather be in Hell than alone”
I have always preferred the music to the lyrics in rock music. Much of it is moronic or simple minded, and now, in the hip hop era, it is often unintelligible or totally offensive.
But I still hear such music blazing out the windows of cars that stop next to me at a light or traffic jam. So, God bless America, I shut my window and turn on WBGO. 88.3 the jazz station out of Newark or talk-radio.
I will have to search the lists of Grammy winners to find something I like. There are many genres which are still active including country, classical and jazz. So take your pick.
Listen to SZA’s music just to try and understand why she is so hugely popular..
