Pine Island Shrimper

“Penny V” Pine Island Shrimper. Paul Goldfinger photo. 2019. Click to enlarge.

Pine Island is the largest island off of Florida.   It is on the Gulf Coast, southwest, near Cape Coral.    The fishing is excellent.   This is why you can buy unfrozen shrimp in Ft. Myers.

Note:   After Hurricane Ian, the News Press reported that Penny V had been “crushed.”

They call Pine Island “the forgotten island” because for the longest time it had a feeling of the 50’s. Since the island is surrounded by mangroves, it has never been desirable to developers. It has a nice quiet feel to it.
