Today’s Asbury Park Press reports that A. Park city officials are working with the Governor to protect ocean front property at their North End from condos.
The Press reports: “Advocacy groups and city officials have lobbied for the preservation of the Asbury Park North Beach site, where waterfront developer iStar Financial has proposed building 15 townhouses. The Surfrider Foundation, which is dedicated to the protection of oceans and beaches, says the site, commonly known as Bradley Cove, should be preserved and used for recreation or an oceanfront park”
The contrast to our situation at our North End is striking—like a bolt of lightening.
Once again, why are our public officials not trying to protect our North End from condo developers? What is wrong with our elected officials? Why don’t they look to protect the people instead of the developers ? What happened to Mary Beth Jahn and her promises to fulfill the original zoning for single family homes at our North End?
And why don’t our committeemen look to protect the environment?
Read it yourselves. See link below.

CAST OF FIORELLO There are places where politicians work on the side of the angels.
Has anyone ever thought about the injustice of paying real estate taxes on land we do not own?
Unfortunately, the only available so-called advocate–the OG Homeowners Association is not up to real advocacy. What if:
1. Each homeowner did not pay OGCMA its next ground rental with appropriate publicity?
2. Each homeowner placed a prepared printed note instead of $ in the Sunday service basket with appropriate publicity?
3. Each homeowner made his next Neptune Township tax payment “under protest” with appropriate publicity?
4. The Homeowners Association only invited Township Committee members with a pre-pledge to oppose the current North End “deal” to its annual “legislative breakfast” with appropriate publicity?
5. And if the Homeowners Association featured a potential new Township Committee member at that breakfast–and didn’t invite the current ones–with appropriate publicity?
Do you think any one of the above would help?
To Devo: The only thing I can add to that is AMEN!
The issue is, in OG, the town officials and the OGCMA, are tightly in bed with the developers– aligned by the pursuit of money. The OGCMA makes money from the redevelopment, the Township makes money, the developers make a lot of money. The citizens of OG get screwed. Somewhere along the way, the world got turned upside down. It’s a national phenomenon — the people use to be served by the government and now the people must fear the government.
