I understand that the CMA has sided with the conservative wing, but this is just hearsay.

Meanwhile many congregations in Texas have already split and chose the conservative side.

Anyone have some facts on this subject as it relates to Ocean Grove?

This year marks the centennial of the first known drag event in OG reported in the OG Times of 17 Aug. 1923. This was a by invitation “womanless wedding” event held in the parlor of the late Arlington. The “bride” wore a costly gown by Worth of Paris. The attendees, retaining their costumes, repaired to Day’s for a “wedding breakfast.”

The Auditorium Ushers took up these events for a number of years until at least 1950. They were obviously intended as comedy and not as gay events.

From what i can observe from afar, the OGCMA had good relations with the gay community until the 2007 Civil Union controversy. A speaker in the Auditorium offended a number of people in the aftermath.

The impending liberal/conservative split of the Methodist Church seems to have hardened positions.
