Now 4.5 million visits as of May, 2023
a. Wow on Webb. This is what a free garden tour in the Grove looks like: The Blogfinger sponsored “People’s Garden Tour.” June 2021. Look down (d) to see that the Chamber and Jack Green Realty will offer a garden tour for $25.00 a ticket this June.

b. Now that warm weather has arrived, be sure to police your property for standing water, even a candy wrapper with rain in it. These are breeding grounds for mosquitoes. Yes, OG does have “skeeters” especially the Asian tigers.
We have a bird bath with a small device which keeps the water moving. Our pond has constantly moving water due to aerators and 2 pumps.
c. If you see brightly colored signs on the front yards of OG houses, those are the locations where artists will be exhibiting and maybe selling their work during the Art on the Porch event. June 10, 2023. And this remarkable happening is FREE.
The lawn signs will begin to show themselves today and a few more days thanks to local culture heroines Betsy and Katy. Maybe some more of you citizens can come up with ideas for events geared to OG residents, families, and visitors. We need to displace some of the smothering mega-money-making exploitive events in this town. We-the-people need more air to breath, culture to absorb, social events to know our neighbors, and room to live outdoors.
Yesterday a car pulled up and parked in front of my house. I was on the porch. A young family hopped out. The woman looked around and said, “I love to walk in this town.”
She was just happy to be here…..didn’t need a special event.
The “vintage car show” for 5/13 was cancelled. So we had a lovely Saturday in May without noisy Model T’s. and closed streets downtown. Anyone know why the cancel? Maybe we can encourage more of that.
YES! We maintain those historic houses which tourists love so much. We appreciate tourists who come to view our architecture, our history, our friendly porch culture, our beachfront, our downtown shopping, and our small town America ambience. And they also enjoy our ocean for free from the boards.
Those money makers and parking hordes brought about by the Chamber of Commercials, Neptune Township, the CMA, and the enablers at the Home Groaners need to do more to encourage small town events which improve the lifestyles of OG taxpayers.
d. And, as you may know, there is a “garden tour and art walk” coming up in June and sponsored by enablers the Chamber and Jack Green Realty. They will charge $25 for tickets. This is exploitive and a bad precedent when gardens and art shows are presented but require a paid ticket to get in.
We have a history in the Grove of free garden tours and art shows.
How is it that Grovarian institutions including our businesses (CC) are willing to charge us $25.00 to see some of our gardens when we can view our ocean for free? And shame on those citizens who are participating in this garden tour for which your neighbors will be charged admission!

There was no criticism of those who wish to pay. But a pay-to-view garden tour is a bad precedent for the community of Ocean Grove. Who’s making money?
Please don’t criticize those who wish to show their gardens or those who wish to pay to view.
