The Casino is a dreary sort of a place, especially when it rains. But most people don’t just stand there; instead they walk through–back or forth or both.
This place is dark, but always there’s a light at the end of the tunnel, even if it’s raining. It’s a quiet place usually, unless there is live music, and walking by live music is comforting because our brains usually welcome music.
And why is there always music (called a soundtrack) when we watch a movie? Most moviegoers are barely aware of the music playing and influencing their sensory experience.
If you read the credits, you will see that there are a lot more music credits than you expected. But it is important, and “Hollywood” knows that. That’s why Ennio Morricone won Academy Awards.
And Arthur Prysock had a hit with this song from Drearyville; and I like it, especially since, lurking in the background, is Count Basie and his band.
