d. NEPTUNE UNITED. The Coaster flubs the truth once again: “In an effort to help those who are hungry in Neptune a new group has formed called Neptune United which is committed to ensuring fairness and equality for all in the township.”
The Coasterican article does not mention anyone’s name as being behind this. Food will be collected until May 5 at Starving Artist, Kearny Bank and Neptune Senior Center. What NU has to do with this is unclear. No contact information is given
But for those who have been paying attention, NU is about much more than collecting food. This group presented themselves as activists to combat issues having mostly to do with the Camp Meeting. Most of their barbs are directed in Ocean Grove, not Neptune.
They actually appeared on the scene late last year not now. Here is a link to our opening piece about them. In reading their website, they expressed an aggressive plan to expose a number of quality of life issues in the Grove, especially those having to do with LGBTQ rights, church vs state concerns, cross shaped pier and others.

So collecting food finds them off the track that they set forth for themselves. Maybe they find themselves with nothing to do in the mainstream. Even their name “Neptune United” doesn’t fit their main location for “ensuring fairness and equality” which is without a doubt allegedly Ocean Grove.
And it is marvelous that they want to collect food for hungry people around here, but do we actually have a hunger issue in the Grove or is this another red herring?
So who actually are NU and what can we expect from them? There is now a wide gulf between what they say and what they do.
Should Ocean Grove admire Neptune United for their double talk?

e. Neglected parks in OG. The citizens here will need to do something, because the Neptuners do the bare minimum. Over 20 years ago some neighbors across Firemen’s Park paid for materials so that the benches could be made usable. People would walk through the park and have nothing to sit on. Now those benches need work again. Where are the Home Groaners on this issue ?
We see that it is rare for anyone to picnic there. Bench sitting is hurting, and visitors are afraid to sit on the ground.
f. 69th Annual Choir Festival. July 9 2023. 7 pm. Great Auditorium. Dr. Cindy Bell of OG will be among the 8 conductors.
g. Masks are no longer required at Jersey Shore Medical Center. Next will be outpatient medical facilities. COVID is still around, so continue being careful.
THE ANDREW SISTERS: Music from the Depression era. Speaking of hunger:
For this clueless group, Neptune United, the food bank is in Neptune on 66. There are several food pantries in Asbury, if anyone would like to volunteer, that feed the hungry. clearly this is all for show and nothing else for this pointless group who are pretending they are doing something.
