In our piece about the SS Morro Castle (11/19/16) , we pointed out that the burned out hulk of the ocean liner remained only 200 feet out into the water of Asbury Park and it became a tourist attraction there.  This photograph shows some of those folks on the beach with the M.C. behind them.  Today they could have taken their own photo with a selfie stick.

Thanks to Carol Livingstone of Ocean Grove. 11/21/16

My father mentioned to me that he and his parents made the trip from Trenton to see the Morro Castle. Asbury Park was a popular destination for Trentonians for many years. The Historical Society of Ocean Grove preserves an oar from one of the lifeboats.
