Santacon fizzled out today on Cookman Avenue. We saw only a few Santas, but we saw something better than him: We saw happy revelers at two locations. They were drinking, laughing, talking, eating, and glancing up at giant screens.
When we were there, it was World Cup soccer. So maybe it’s true that the US is finally ready to evince a high degree of enthusiasm over professional international soccer.
Rebecca at the Biergarten was holding court for a bunch of guys in red. She brought her flashy dimples with her. I gave her a BF card because it was probable that she would be featured in this post. The place was crowded and happy/noisy.
We then went to TAKA where Taka himself said “Hi”. We know each other, and he asked me to be sure that I photographed his wall of Santas. He started out his career here by living in the Grove for awhile. His restaurant is a huge hit in all seasons. I recently went there for lunch with a friend, and he came over and chatted with us for awhile.
