Southside Johnny grew up in Ocean Grove.   There was music at home–played loud and often.  He graduated from Neptune High School and formed the Asbury Jukes with two school friends.

Johnny has been known in the past to rent apartments in the Grove; he even rented a house on our block–Mt. Hermon Way.   The owner of the house warned us not to say anything to him or anyone else.

Johnny  and the Jukes are favorites at the Jersey Shore rock and roll scene.  Here is one of his hits, ironically called “I Don’t Want to Go Home.”
