2 incumbents return the Neptune committee to the same old, same old. Not a single Grover on the one-party-rule consortium of five.

Neptune Township is run by a 5 person politburo which does not represent everyone in the City, and especially does not represent Ocean Grove. We are invisible to them, and they could care less about us.   We live in a representative form of government, but in Ocean Grove, no one represents us in the halls of the Mother Ship.

They rotate the mayorship, and Williams and Brantley especially ignore us with no concerns about their living in the shadows as far as OG is concerned.    And we have no hope of ever gaining leadership or even membership on that singe-party-rule Committee which sits high on a dais above the rest. In the last election two enthusiastic young women ran, but lost.   Why?  Because of party line voting.  There was a chance for some new blood;  nope–just old blood.

Perhaps we can learn from Asbury Park which also has a 5 person seat of power.  But in the last election there, a woman named Ahbez-Anderson dislodged an incumbent. This is significant because the same 5 people have run the show there for the last 10 years, but now there is a chance of a new power shift over there.   And there are two others on the Committee who are young, smart, and ready to take charge. Their names are Quinn and Grillo.

The Tri City News just ran a headline after the last election:  “Political Leadership Shifts in Asbury Park.”  Interestingly, the Tri-City didn’t mention party affiliation in their piece.  Isn’t local leadership supposed to be non-partisan?  In Asbury they will look to do the right thing for their entire community, diverse as it is.

Amy Quinn. Asbury City Council

Joe Grillo. Asbury City Council

Angela Ahbez-Anderson. Asbury City Council.

Ocean Grove needs a secession movement as well as a political movement to unseat or unsettle those entrenched one-party-rule  turkeys at Neptuner Town Hall.   We need at least one Committeeman who is independent and who is from Ocean Grove.  .    Why do we allow ourselves to have no representation at the Mother Ship? And we need a change in governance to let the people elect our mayor.

Asbury is leading the way with new  leadership as it gets ready for an exciting future for all A. Parkers.   What future  are we looking for in Ocean Grove and who will provide the political muscle to make change happen?

Yes good piece and really all local towns should be nonpartisan.

It will be interesting to watch how red bank implements.

    Thanks for sending!
