More Neptune trash talk: What the hey? This is from 2022, so check with the 2026 NT web site for the latest rules regarding trash policy. (DPW)

June 11, 2022 by Blogfinger

The current rule. (2026)  is to not put out a pail with over 45 gal capacity.  It had been 42 gallon as in this 2022 re-post on Blogfinger.net

.

Blogfinger Committee for  Better Ocean Grove Garbage Pickup.

What’s wrong with this situation?  It pails by comparison to other problems we-the-people have to deal with, such as ending a sentence with a preposition and spelling “pail” correctly.

Lets itemize :

a. What will happen to our old pails:  They will add  to the horrors of landfills; will not be recycled;  One of our Neptune over-42 gallon pails may be found around the neck of a whale some day.  What solution do the Neptuners have to protect the environment over their trash mandates?

b. How can the citizens figure out what to do when the Neptuners don’t explain why they are giving us grief over garbage. Tell us why we have to adhere to those numbers  (42 gallons and 50 pounds)  Why not 41 gallons and 49 pounds?   Explain the math.

c.   We pay taxes to have our garbage picked up, so what’s the problem?   Just solve it for us.  How about giving us a correct pail and picking up the incorrect pail?

d.    And while we are on the subject of garbage, we have seen the  Department of Public Dumping dump recycling  in with the regular garbage.  There should be a sign on those trucks:  “How’s my dumping?”  A phone number could be provided for complaints, but they won’t call you back.

e.  And, I understand that only 20% of recyclable plastics are actually recyclable.  If true, then just let us put recycling out with the regular garbage.   Is it really worth while, and I’d like to get rid of my 4 green recycling pails.   Just let us put recycling into those 42 (or under) gallon new pails

f. The Neptuners put up electric signs at both entrances to town, and those signs are hard to read and offer no sensible information.  Do they think that Grovers are morons?  Is this a dictatorship where orders are given and no questions asked?

g.  Threats to not pick up garbage are an inappropriate tool for the DPW to use with citizens. It’s like the post office threatening not to deliver our mail.

The  sticker below was stuck to my over-42 gallon pail which the workers have always accepted and used with the mechanical device to deftly empty that pail.

Using garbage  as hostage while not explaining what’s going on is unacceptable.

h.  If they reject our garbage, as they threaten to do with their yellow stickers, then they cannot be called the Department of Public WORKS!

i..   We have more letters to use, so send us your observations about the 42-50 rules.
