a. Town-Wide Yard Sale update.
—The Township has been trying to organize yard sales in various parts of Neptune, but that has nothing to do with our June 18 event.
—We are maintaining a Yard Sale information page located on top of this Blogfinger home page. Go there for details of buying and selling on the 18th
—Anyone can sign up to join our list, right up to June 17. Email Paul at Blogfinge@verizon.net
–We are now up to 17 sellers.
—Sellers: Consider trying to help us promote our sale. Ask your neighbors to join. You don’t need a lot of stuff to have an enjoyable day, and clusters of sales do better than individual ones. And we depend on our neighbors visiting our sales. Bring Dad along and take a walk or bike ride.
—We plan to post a map.
–participants can start sending me lists of sale items to include in the master list on June 10 and you can add more whenever you want—email
FATS WALLER:
b. Regarding ground rents. According to a knowledgeable source, “This subject is still contentious, and drastic rent increases for commercial properties have delayed closings on sales and made prospective buyers jittery.” Some Grovers believe that ground rents should be permitted to increase yearly according to inflation. But for homeowners, the existing long term leases should be protective.
c. Regarding the real estate market, I am told that many single family homes are being purchased by large real estate investment trusts, both domestic and Chinese, and offered for rent, and renters sometimes do not take pride in their rental units, resulting in run-down looking properties.
Some sellers, in consideration of their neighbors will not sell to a buyer who plans to rent out the property.
