If you are a member of the Home Groaners you would have received a letter from Pres. Richard Williams summarizing how they did in 2021. He said that his organization “wrestled with many important issues over the span of an up-and-down year.”
But let’s not beat around the bush. What did they actually accomplish last year? What are the bottom lines?
a. An extensive survey was conducted to help the Board plan the future: They came up with 3 new committees: Membership, Volunteer and Green. Did this result in anything tangible: No.
Do we the people of Ocean Grove need a Green Committee? Nonsense–don’t bother us with green propaganda. Besides, it’s not easy being green.
b. Regarding parking they turned over the Kimley-Horne report to the Township. Anything tangible? More nonsense. According to the HOA, “The township deferred decision-making.” They say that the HOA will “wait for actions…”
c. They held Zoom meetings..nothing special came out of that.
d. North End Committee: Nothing to say. HPC is wrestling with that. What should HOA have done:? Issue a proclamation that the Groaners retract their prior misguided support for the North End Plan. Totally oppose the project. We have a year: organize an Activist Committee and drive them crazy with demonstrations and press releases. Sue to reverse the “zone in need of redevelopment” illegal designation which is the foundation of the whole project
e. Ground rents. The letter says, “A small group of dedicated residents, with the encouragement of the OGHOA, is working to explore legal responses to these CMA practices.”
If there is such a secret society advocating for all the citizens of OG, they should be identified and should tell us what they are doing and why, unless of course they are advocating for themselves.
And let’s hear it for the Groaners who are offering their “encouragement.” Encouragement for what? Groaners should explain themselves to the public.
f. Guest speakers in 2021: Neptune Librarian, 2 “green” experts, 2 realtors (any conflicts of interest with this one?,) a director of the “Jersey Arts Center” and a talk by the outgoing Neptune Township Business Administrator–not an advocate for OG, and why not invite his replacement?
Pres. Williams ended his presentation by promising to continue their “mission to always protect and enhance both the property values and quality of life in Ocean Grove.”
We ask, “Have they succeeded in actually accomplishing anything important? What do you think?”
