Neighborhood in Belfast where most of the movie was filmed. Paul Goldfinger still shot. Ma and Buddy.
This stunning movie, filmed mostly in dramatic black and white, is about a Protestant family struggling to survive during the “troubles” in Belfast, Ireland in the 1960’s. The acting is superb. The filming is beautiful, and there are scenes of wondrous joy as well as profound sadness.
It’s rare that I get to photograph a movie filmed in black and white.
My favorite scene was near the end at a party.
VAN MORRISON: “Bright Side of the Road.” From the wonderful soundtrack.
