Amelia Earhart was the first female aviator to fly across the Atlantic. She broke quite a few records. In July, 1937, her plane, with a navigator aboard, went down over New Guinea while trying to fly around the world. Her wreck was never found. She was 40 years old.
STEVE MILLER BAND:
“AMELIA” by Joni Mitchell
“The drone of flying engines
Is a song so wild and blue
It scrambles time and seasons if it gets thru to you
Then your life becomes a travelogue
Of picture-post-card-charms
Amelia, it was just a false alarm.”
