A cormorant by any other name--- Anhinga A double-breasted cormorant---heavy bones let it dive deep to fish Fisherman's fisher--- a crested cormorant chokes up its catch * George Held sent us these three poems saying, "Your striking photograph of an anhinga made me look up this trio of cormorant haiku." George comments: "The third one alludes to the practice of Japanese fishermen who use the birds to fish for them, constricting their throats with string so they can't swallow and must regurgitate their catch, for the benefit of the fishermen."
