“Tired of war…..”

The song which accompanies the Blogfinger history of the OG Civil War Canon is called “Tenting on the Old Camp Ground.”

The lyrics say, “Many are the hearts that are weary tonight, wishing for the war to cease.”

And listening to the themes of this song, I cannot but compare it to the sentiments expressed regarding the pandemic.

Soon the stats may show one million US deaths from COVID-19.

During the  US Civil war, the horrendous death total was 620,000 including both sides.

And if we look at the total number of deaths in all US wars, including the Revolutionary, we find the figure to be 1.1 million

Will we soon find a way not to break that record?
