a. Today is the 9th anniversary of when Superstorm Sandy hit the Jersey Shore and caused extensive devastation.
b. Early voting: We went to the Senior Center two nights ago to vote. The room was large, well staffed and well lit.
It was a satisfying experience. Both of us had our signatures challenged because they compared prior examples to the new way of signing on a computer screen as the screen was tilted upright, using a small writing device that we could keep.
The machine was different than before and required some explanation by the machine monitor who talked too fast.–so pay attention.
But it was fairly self-explanatory once you closed the curtain, but be careful not to make an error in the process. Overall: a terrific advance in accuracy , security and confidence.
c.
At least 4 valuable downtown parking spaces have been set aside for year-round use: Seagrass, Burblemyers, OG Bakery and Bagels. Others, such as the Victorian Grill did not get the special space. Timed parking for all spaces in the commercial area is a better idea, with no spaces removed from contention.
d. Fresh fish at Wegmans. Eileen has a current fish recipe posted, and she bought a whole striped hybrid bass there (see below,) and their people filleted it for her. A few days ago we checked that beautiful sea food display there, and we saw this:

e. The Neptune zoning officer at the Mother Ship is one of a group of zoning related people from Bradley Beach who are being sued over some zoning issues. A number of them have abruptly resigned (see the APP.)
We don’t know why George Waterman is included in the suit (he no longer works at BB), but whenever a Neptune official gets mixed up in anything worrisome about zoning, we should pay attention.
We have been critical of Waterman in the past regarding some zoning issues in the Grove including his Mary’s Place decision.
f. The concern about antisemitic fliers in town has fizzled out since no more have been reported to the public. This time the HOA has appropriately not popped its cork and called for outside help. The NTPD has released no information on their findings.
g. A woman pulled up to Firemen’s Park, jumped out, and grabbed a handful of poop bags. Petty larceny, but at least they go for a good cause.
h. A white Goldendoodle was spotted in the Grove. But why not call it a White Doodle? Just saying!
i. Dermatology is the most sought after residency for med school grads. So here’s a theme song for the American College of Dermatology (a college with no football team or marching band.)
