a. We have been documenting games people play that make our parking problems worse.
Parking games continue. Blogfinger photos. June 19, 2021.This contractor has been working on this cottage for about a month, using this parking area to store his material. Really! And there is no enforcement. I would like to store my cousin Harold in a space like that.
b. Parking games: handicapped. This is not a new topic. Handicapped spaces should not be given to those who come to OG as a second home. And, there are those who are second homers who may not be here for long stretches. They should not be able to tie up spaces.
c. Parking games: Warehousing cars. There are people who come here who do not live here, but their cars stay put for 2-4 or more days. That should be illegal for anyone who is not a resident.

New sign in West Grove Mall (outside our gates.) It’s in the old Clancy space. 6/21/21It would be interesting to know how this business got a liquor license. Which Neptune officials were involved, and what about zoning issues? Zoning in Neptune is a dicey business.
And, there is a history notation: In the days of Stokes, there was no alcohol sold in town or within a perimeter of one mile outside town–or one mile outside the borders of Ocean Grove. Remember that the CMA owned a large piece of land around here and still do.
In 1933 the 18th amendment (banning alcoholic beverages) was repealed. That wiped out the one mile ban of the CMA, but the ban on selling alcohol in Ocean Grove has continued until now. Of course, Clancy did it since the West Grove Mall is in Neptune not OG.
e. We saw a small vehicle with two guys in it and some electronic gear cruising the North End of OG. The vehicle said Apple.com Maps on the side.

g. This is the perfect spot to learn to solve a mystery: BETTER MIDLER
Wow Paul – you are on top of everything, I can’t believe you’ve uncovered the handicap parking scam.
So to help elaborate on that, I know of a family that successfully got Neptune to put an “OG specific” handicap parking spot in front of their house. This can only be used by a “handicapped resident from OG”, not a handicapped visitor from elsewhere. So here is the best part; this family then got a doctor to provide them with a handicap parking pass to hang in their car which essentially provides them with their own private street parking in front of their house.
Isn’t that just amazing? Even more creative than paying for your own street parking by way of a Vespa scooter!
