They were students at Mendham High School. Dan played guitar, Jay drums, and Mike (a genuine Goldfinger) on keyboards and vocals.
Eileen allowed them to rehearse in our unfinished basement where they wrote the name “Premonition” writ large across a ceiling joist. They liked to cover Queen and The Doors. I can still hear “We are the Champions” echoing through our house.
I took the photo when they were performing in Chubb Park, Chester Township.
When we went to Paris for Michael’s 21st birthday we had to visit Jim Morrison’s grave at Pere Lachaise Cemetery. That site is a shrine for a dissolute crowd smoking and boozing. When we were turned away, someone offered M. a swig from a bottle. He took a sip, and Eileen freaked out. But he survived.
