The CMA’s spin machine, manned by President Michael Badger, has been trying to say that OG is very busy this summer with visitors and cars, despite the presence of the coronavirus and all its ramifications.
It’s not clear why he wants to make that claim in the face of the obvious. It seems to have something to do with his forthcoming parking analysis currently underway. He wants to say that his parking study will be valid despite all the unusual changes that are occurring this summer.
The photograph above shows our beach at 8 am on a Monday (7/27/20) on one of the usually busiest Mondays of the summer. And for many of us who live here, including myself, parking has been much easier this summer, even now at peak season.
This morning, Thursday, July 30, at 09:00 am, there is parking even at the oceanfront and over most of the town except perhaps for beach blocks and other blocks like Asbury Avenue which are always difficult for parking. At the North End there are plenty of spaces.
It actually feels like genuine small town America at the shore.
It will be fascinating to see what the CMA Parking Study says, and what the CMA wants to do with the results. They have no actual power in town; only the Township can “shake that thing.”
Also, many of you are aware of a one question poll done a few days ago by the Better Parking and Polling Alliance. They asked voters to say if our town has easier parking, more difficult parking, or the same parking compared to the past. They had about 250 voters from their mailing list.
It seems that “easier” and “the same” were about the same in the poll. But whom did they poll? I think Blogfinger will try a similar poll since we don’t have the same clientele as the BPPA.
