An anonymous source sent us  the text of a press release signed by Pres. Badger of the CMA. Here are some elements of it:

He says that the CMA’s “primary concern” is regarding “patron density and behavior patterns” and how they influence “health conditions.”  That assessment will partially determine whether additional season tags can be issued.

Mr. Badger says that the decision will depend “in part on Gov. Murphy, compliance at other shore towns, and the Neptune Committee.”

“I am deeply unsatisfied that we cannot accommodate everyone who wants to buy a season badge.”

He tells us that the CMA is trying to be recognized by “governmental leaders” as a responsible organization.  The CMA, he says,  is spending “tens of thousands of dollars on portable toilets, signage, PPE, sanitation equipment, and innumerable necessities.”

Badger explained the early sell out of badges by saying that the early bird special “was not a guarantee of availability.”  And he reminds us that other shore towns sold out as well.

He wants those who have badges to follow all the rules, including distancing and masks. He says that “the actions of current beach patrons may affect our ability to welcome additional season badge holders in the future.”

Short term rentals in the Grove:

Another issue which has arisen is that the ban on short term rentals in OG is causing pain to those who rent space in their homes.  The Committee took up this topic last night, but we have no information on the result.

At the beachfront, a large crew from the Township is busy fixing Ocean Avenue and setting up for distancing there.  Street painting is going on, and numerous benches are being removed from use as seats. Some have tape on them while others are being gathered off to the curbside.
