d. Ocean Grove Auditorium Choir offered a concert on Nov. 16, Saturday ,at St. Paul’s Church. Blogfinger attended because Jason Tramm was conducting, and I was curious as to how it would sound in a church with a regular size organ. This was not meant to be a comparison because the choral works in the Great Auditorium with orchestra, acoustics, and large choir is world class.
Dr. Tramm offered a nice selection of standard hymns but also music by an all-star cast of Bach, Vaughn Williams, Mendelssohn, and Rutter.
There was only the organ, although there had been some talk of a few instruments like violins. The choir was relatively small, estimated at 50 by the Coaster. It looked smaller.
The audience was also small, but they were enthused with the prayers and the sing-a-long hymns. I thought it was very nice.
The OG Auditorium Choir performs in several major events, but the most special is the Annual Choir Festival each July. They also sing for Sunday services in season, in the GA.
Here is a snippet of how they sounded at St. Paul’s—splendid.
