« THE FAIRNESS DILEMMA IN NEPTUNE TOWNSHIP: Why are the taxpayers of Ocean Grove treated differently than those in another part of town?
2 open Neptune Township Committee seats will be filled in November. Choose the “fresh voices for Neptune,” Moll and Hogan, and end single party rule for Ocean Grove. »

Developers to take control of Lake Avenue. What will happen to that public access “walk along?”

October 13, 2019 by Blogfinger

——Neptune Committee plans to approve an ordinance that will place Lake Avenue in the hands of developers. It was passed on  October 10, by our one-party rule Committee.  There is never  opposition to anything these developers want.

The wording says that  a “waterfront promenade will be created.”   This refers to Lake Avenue which already is a waterfront promenade for the public, is it not?   They refer to that walkway as a “public access area,” but it has been that way exclusively in the past for over 100 years. The post card is from the turn of the last century.

This ordinance is drowning in  legal gobbledygook, and you will see what will be allowed along that pathway in the future once these developers  (OGNED) get hold of those promises and put them into storage  (escrow) for now.

OGNED says that it owns Lake Drive, as indicated by the ordinance.  We will have some more information about this ordinance—it may not be legal.

And there is another potential issue:  Will that “waterfront promenade” be the front yard of condos to be built there close to the Lake?  Will it remain a public access walkway then?

Still, when I think of the
Road we’re traveling on
I wonder what’s gone wrong
I can’t help it, I wonder what has gone wrong

Any development along Lake Promenade … er I mean walkway … er avenue should include Wesley Lake … er I mean retention basin remediation. Drain, dredge, etc.
