a.  Free concert Sunday, August 25, 7:00 pm in the Great Auditorium.  An impressive lineup will perform the Annual Sacred Masterwork Concert featuring selections from Handel’s Messiah. Participants include the MidAtlantic Symphony Orchestra conducted by Maestro Jason Tramm, organist Gordon Turk, vocalists: Monica Ziglar, Justin Beck, Emily Geller and Ronald Naldi.

Jason Tramm says, “Performing Handel’s Messiah in the historic Great Auditorium has a long-standing history. In 1908, Walter Damrosch, founder of the Julliard School led a performance of the great masterwork with over 10,000 in attendance. As Ocean Grove celebrates the 150th anniversary of its founding, we return to this most famous of classical works.”

b.  Doo Wop Extravaganza on Saturday, August 31, at 7:30 pm.  There is a very good lineup which includes the Belmonts  (this group used to be teenagers in love), Barbara Harris and the Toys  (Barbara has some youngsters with her), Bobby Wilson doing Jackie Wilson music, The Brooklyn Bridge Band, and former Platters lead singer Sonny Turner.

Order tix at oceangrove.org.  ($25-$55 for reserved seats)  You can also get general admission tix at the door for $20.00 on show-nite.

DION AND THE BELMONTS;   These Medicare performers are still wondering why  they must be teenagers in love.   (I can recall in high school wondering not why, but when.)

c.  Orchestra of St. Peter by the Sea with Father Alphonse Stephenson and special guests.  Saturday Sept 7, Great Auditorium.  8 pm   Tickets are $30 reserved and $25 general admission.  Go to oceangrove.org for more info.

d. If you are looking for some fall plants for the garden, mums, asters, and pansies will be out soon, but otherwise the nurseries are empty.   Rosemary tells us that Sickles in Little Silver looks “a wee bit sad” at this time.  And we found the same at Sunset Nursery on Sunset Avenue in A. Park.  We also have been to Sickles at 1 Harrison Avenue in Little Silver.   It’s a nice ride along the ocean (north) and it is a terrific garden center with gifts and gourmet foods.

Thanks Rosemary for the input.     We do like citizen reporters.

e.  The new bagel shop is open on Main. They have burgers and sandwiches  A pet boutique will open soon.

gf  Dapper Dog Spa will open soon on Main.

g.

Outside the Freeze Zone. Is this OK?   Blogfinger photo.
