DORIS DAY from her album Wonderful Day.
The song is about the Trevi Fountain in Rome. It is from the 1954 movie of the same name. Doris Day, who died recently in her ’90’s, was not in the movie. Frank Sinatra had a big hit with it.
We went there. You turn your back on the fountain and then make a wish, and then throw your American money over your shoulder into the water. What a deal, but everyone does it. Then some Italian kids jump into the water and get the loose change.
We don’t know if people throw money into the Bradley fountain. But, better than Rome, we do have an ocean nearby. If you are going to throw money, go throw it into the Atlantic–more likely to have your wish come true.
We do wonder if our historic fountain at Founder’s Park in Ocean Grove will be up and running by July 4. Send some money to the OG Historic Society for our fountain.
