Tracking Sandy is a major exhibit to mark the 5th anniversary of the storm which hit the Jersey Shore on October 29. The Monmouth County Historical Association has collected photographs and artifacts, as well as oral history interviews.
The sponsors of the exhibit say, “Not everyone is sure what Sandy means for the future. 5 years later, we as a County are still Tracking Sandy, and hoping that lessons learned in her aftermath can help us in the future.”
The Guest Curator is Melissa Ziobro, Specialist Professor of Public History, Department of History and Anthropology at Monmouth University.
Contributing photographers include Paul Goldfinger of Blogfinger.net. Two of the images above are ours including row 3–last on the right (north end;) and row 1, third from the left (volunteers at the Boardwalk Pavilion.)
As the introduction says, “5 years later, not everyone has rebuilt. Not everyone has been made whole. ”
But, on the waterfront, hope continues for continued progress. Here is Leonard Bernstein conducting the Israel Philharmonic with a selection from the score of On the Waterfront. It’s called “Moving Forward.”
