New construction on Lawrence Avenue: three single family homes and possibly a new parking lot for the Arts Center.

September 30, 2017 by Blogfinger

Work has begun on three Lawrence Ave. houses behind the Jersey Shore Arts Center. © Blogfinger.net photo taken from Lawrence Avenue. in Ocean Grove, NJ.   9/30/17.

Here is some background from our October 2016 article about this controversial lot behind the Arts Center.  In it is a quote from Herb Herbst who died recently. And, some questions were raised about the subdivision of that property.

Lawrence Avenue lots for sale 2016

We have learned from an anonymous source that the portion of the lot which is on the Main Street  (Rt 71) side will become a parking lot for the JSAC.  That should be good news for homeowners who live in the far western reaches of the Grove, near the Arts Center where the Main Avenue lot is often overflowing.  We are told that all approvals have been granted.

The Arts Center is quite busy these days with a variety of programs.   We are particularly interested in the plans for a serious in-house theater group as well as music programs unlike any heard before in OG including jazz, country, and  bluegrass among other selections.

The theater in the Center is wonderful and currently is under- utilized.
