Qoaster Quotes: Page 1, September 14, 2017

September 15, 2017 by Blogfinger

Paul Goldfinger, Editor @Blogfinger

In the latest edition of the  Qoaster, there is a front page article called, “In Neptune: Official Resigns From New Police Panel.”  It’s about the new 3 member police committee which will provide oversight to the NTPD.

According to the Qoaster, Neptune Committeeman Kevin McMillan has resigned from that police committee.  McMillan said, “I will no longer be on the  (police) committee and will be replaced by Mayor Michael Brantley.”

Later, on page 49,  the unsigned article said, “McMillan will continue to serve as Police Commissioner.”

The police committee now consists of  Deputy Mayor Nicholas Williams and Mayor Brantley. A search is underway for the third member.

According to the Qoaster, “The committee will now oversee the Neptune Police Department with Chief  James Hunt running the day-to-day operations.”

The Qoaster says, “The overall ordinance will eliminate the Police Director position, formerly held by Michael Bascom, and turn it over to the new three-member police committee.”

Blogfinger Editor’s note:   So, according to the Qoaster, McMillan says that he will stay on as Police Commissioner, but what is his job description as Commish now that the Police Director has been thrown under the bus and the new 3 man police committee will provide oversight of the NTPD, with the Police Chief answering to them?

This sounds like gibberish once again from the Qoaster.

And why isn’t the Qoaster asking some hard questions such as what is the real reason for McMillan’s departure?  After all, McMillan was the only Neptune Committeeman to vote against this re-organization of police oversight. And how does the office of police commissioner fit into the scheme of things and why didn’t McMillan  also resign from that office?  Or did the Qoaster get this wrong?

The Qoaster, once again, is printing whatever news is handed to them and leaving out a bunch of related issues that should be mentioned in conjunction with this turn of events.

For those who are interested in this matter, the APP has published a series of thorough articles.
