Well, that wish has come true. Every Friday, from 3 pm to 8 pm, the Moonlight Acres farm from Howell Township, NJ will bring an array of organic fresh goods including vegetables, fruits, herbs and flowers. Howell has a long history of farming.
The Mullen family has been farming a property in the Ramtown section of Howell since 2008 Dad (Michael) is in charge, but he works with his three grown children Tess, Tyler and Tim. We met all three today in front of Bürbelmaiers (69 Main Avenue) where they were offering a beautiful selection of fresh goods including garlic, lettuce, beets, radishes, zucchini, carrots, kale, and assorted spices.
The multicolored carrots are the Stardust variety. Everything looked fresh and delicious.
Tess is in charge, and her brothers help out. Tess, who has a vivacious personality, said that farming and bringing great food to market is a big thrill for her and her family. As she put it, “It’s cool.” She may be the first farmer ever to use the C word.
Hopefully the Grove will support this market. It is the sort of activity that will help build a sense of community.
