Last night we heard from a confidential source that the Laingdon application has been withdrawn.   This morning we have verified that. Kristie Armour, the Neptune Township Administrative Officer for the Planning Board/Zoning Board of Adjustment, emailed us to say, “It has been officially withdrawn. If they decide to move forward at a later date, they will have to re-apply and start from scratch.”   Ms. Armour heard from the Applicant’s attorney, and no reason was given.

So far that is the only information available.

Favors Rehab writer is probably the Laingdon owner himself or family of his.

Seriously, having drug addicts in one’s town does not add desirable diversity. It scares people, lowers real estate values, and, by the way, Ocean Grove tried that in the past with disastrous results (Anonymous must have missed the late 1980’s here).

I say let’s make Ocean Grove nicer — not worser!

That’s a shame. Healthful lifestyles should be celebrated, not vilified. A well-run rehab facility does not bring traffic; it ameliorates traffic. Condos bring parking problems, but not rehabs.

And if you want to just be another Deal or Spring Lake, you can have that. Bland, rich people who visit on a few weekends, maybe. Do you people really want a Stepford Wife community?

Note that the applicant may reapply subsequently. It has happened before. We don’t know what is going on behind the scenes, so they may regroup and play it again, Sam.

Simon. We don’t take assignments. I suggest you and your neighbors go to the Municipal Building and speak to someone at the Board of Adjustment Dept. Ask for Kristie Armour. Ask her if the site plan has been finalized. Let us know what you find out.

Here is a BF link from October which will help you:

Good work Paul. Now if you can only find out what is going on with the Warrington. Sawbucks has two men work on it two or three times a week; they hammer from 8am but nothing is changing. They have been doing this since late summer. A homeowner called Sawbucks to ask them what is going on telling them how disturbing the situation is, hammering waking people up and he never sees any progress they agreed with him. Nobody ever called the homeowner back with any information.

I glad this won’t be happening if that is the final outcome. It would be nice to think that the exposure on this blog contributed to the withdrawal. With a dispute about historic preservation around the corner, maybe the authorities decided it wasn’t worth another fight. But I think it is more likely that it was just too expensive for Sprout, what with the fees they would need to pay both above and under the table.

Thank you Paul. You deserve most of the credit for bringing this important issue to light. If it wasn’t for your fair and balanced reporting many of us would not have been made aware of this matter until it was too late.

I’ve followed Blogfinger for years and you have always kept me informed on the many issues threatening the special characteristics of Ocean Grove. I encourage others to do the same so that they too will be informed of the many issues that will face our special little town in the future.

    Thank you again.

Thank you as always for keeping us out-of-towner owners abreast of what is going on in our home-away-from-home. We are on the brink of selling!

Thank you for all your investigation and reporting on the Sprout Health/Laingdon Hotel issue. I imagine your attention and publicity on this matter resulted in the withdrawal of the application. Thank you for your diligence and service.

    Paul,

    A note of gratitude!

Thanks for keeping us informed about this lifestyle threat to Ocean Grove. I believe that your publicity was responsible for creating public awareness which ultimately resulted in withdrawal of the application.

Thanks to you for keeping everyone informed and getting a handle on how OG would respond to the application. I’m sure that was a factor in their decision.

Congratulations Dr. Goldfinger on all your articles that kept the residents informed about this application.

I believe that as a result of your reporting the Sprout Health Group and their Attorney Jennifer Krimko made a wise decision to withdraw the application.
