The entrance to Ocean Grove on Main Avenue. Click to read these examples of fine art in front of the Jersey Shore Arts Center

The cheap looking billboards that greet visitors to our historic town should be banned by ordinance if Neptune Township has any pride in its “Historic District.” And just wait until the pinkification of OG recurs in October. We might as well have the naked cowboy come over to welcome the Sunday churchgoers. And how about some fire eaters like in Key West and even the bearded lady from Coney Island?
We could even have the billboard with the guy who used to blow smoke rings over Times Square. At least that was fun and kept the hookers amused. Even a demonstration by the QSpot would be more artistic and full of life than the current display of “fine art” on Main Avenue.
Shouldn’t the entrance to Ocean Grove reflect the character of the town that so many residents and visitors say that they “love?” Where is the Beatification Project when you need them for the most visible location in town?
And finally, what the heck is the “Boardwalk Vineyard Church?” At least, if there must be signs, how about a CMA sign showing the Great Auditorium and welcoming visitors to our very special town.
ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL:
The building really needs to come down. It has seen its time and is nothing more than a big elephant on 71. Then someone can really spruce up that entire area to what a historic town entrance should look like. The view would improve tremendously from all directions.
Maybe only reading the Jersey Shore Arts Center Lease contract agreement is the answer to this question. But, I think it’s safe to assume that the owner (CMA) of the building is the one responsible by default, if the Arts Center is not holding up to their end of the deal in the Lease agreement.
With this said, it really does come down to the fact that it’s still the owners responsibility, so therefore it is the CMA’s responsibility
Who is responsible for the upkeep of the entrance way to Ocean Grove? We already know that every homeowner in town is responsible and liable for the sidewalk, curb and anything else that is between your property and the street your home is on.
To follow along, third question: And how is a Yoga class considered education?
Not the welcoming one would expect from a little historic town on the Jersey shore, with a historic designation, as well as one that is attempting to keep visitors coming and spending $$ in our little town.
And where is the HPC in all this?
I’m sure that each of these signs requires a permit. Have they all been obtained?
Also, how is the “Boardwalk Vineyard Church” an arts and education business?
Not only the signs, but the deplorable condition of the sidewalk as well as the weeds along the curb. The sidewalk in some areas has disintegrated to pebbles. It is a tripping hazard and an area of complete neglect. Shame on the Township for not enforcing the laws and the CMA for not improving the entrance to the town. Let this article serve to shine a light on the neglectful and shabby appearance of our entrance.
