On Saturday,Our reporter Stephen Goldfinger was down at the boardwalk at noon. He tells us that folks were there with cameras and binoculars checking out the rough seas and gusting winds. Some said that they were enjoying the cool winds and cloudy skies after a summer of hot, humid air and penetrating sunshine.
He met a couple who were trying to quickly pack up their summer home and head to safety, but it seemed that they might have to stay until it’s over.
Neptune Township ( Saturday noon) sent out a robo-call advising citizens to move outdoor furniture and other items that might be damaged during high winds. The “impact” of the storm will be felt from Saturday into Tuesday. Those who live in flood prone parts of town should move their cars. We are also advised that there is no mandatory evacuation, but expect the possibility of downed trees and power outages.
Camp Meeting announces weekend cancellations: “We are cancelling the Sunday night service in the Auditorium, the Labor Day Review of the Season meeting on Monday at 9 am in Bishop Janes Tabernacle, and the Holiday Encore concert on Monday night.” they are also evacuating the tents and securing the beaches. No lifeguards were on duty today.
