Children climb this unruly cherry tree every day in Firemen’s Park—sometimes to the top. Even adult sized teenagers do the same. 7/20/15 Blogfinger.net
Blogfinger.net Ocean Grove report:
Some years ago, a giant branch crashed to the ground in Firemen’s Park, landing across a path where people walk and children play. It was near the gazebo where kids wait for their school bus. Fortunately no one was hurt. The park is under the jurisdiction of Neptune Township, but tree maintenance is rarely seen.
However, today, a crew from a tree company was seen working on the trees, taking down dangerous branches. The sounds of chain saws filled the air. It is a welcome sight, and long overdue.

Tree trimming and even removal is necessary if the tree is a potential threat to peoples’ and buildings’ safety. I am all for saving trees, but I wouldn’t want an overgrown tree crashing down on me or my family randomly one day. Responsible tree care can actually improve a tree’s life, I think. http://treesculptors.com/Services/
It appears that our happiness was premature. The tree trimmers left after a few hours having made some minor prunes on a few trees. It looks like they were mostly interested in getting branches away from power lines. Maybe they were sent by JCP&L. The dangerous branches that we mentioned are still present including the risky climbing tree.
