Lesbian and Gay Big Apple Corps produced a fine big sound heading east on Cookman Avenue. All photographs by Paul Goldfinger, Blogfinger.net. 6/7/15 © Click on all photos to enlarge.
It was a fairly subdued parade as compared with others of its genre, especially in Greenwich Village. It was Pride Day in Asbury Park, and there was plenty of pride to go around—spectators and marchers alike. If you don’t know what “Pride” means, you would quickly figure it out by the LGBT banners and other references on signs, in fashions and in words. One guy came by me and said, “Hey, it’s gay day.”
It was a fun event because of the color, costumes, and the happy enthusiasm of the crowd. A festival was to be held after the parade.
Ocean Grove’s Carol Rizzo got some publicity for her bid to be elected as Monmouth County Freeholder, on the Democratic ticket—-a young man was carrying a sign on her behalf.
I didn’t see any representatives from Ocean Grove United. In fact I recognized no one at the parade. Considering the fairly large gay community in OG, that seemed surprising, but perhaps there is a reason for that or maybe I was just too distracted shooting photos.
