What the Heck Avenue is going on here? A “selfie” perhaps?

Last November, the Oxford English Dictionary named “selfie” the “word of the year.”   Most people take selfies to post on Facebook.  In 2012, we were in a Vietnamese  restaurant in Tampa when in walked Emeril Lagasse and a small retinue .  Two young women sitting at a table with their husbands  jumped up and  intercepted him, gave him hugs, and insisted that he pose with them for selfies. He then moved on to the bar while the ladies sat down to immediately post the photos on Facebook.  I thought it would be crass to take a photo of him, so I did not.

That’s my selfie story from Florida.  But would this photo of me in a NY restaurant be considered a selfie?   See the comments for the winning answer, one that does not involve smoke or mirrors.

Good try TCos, but you were led astray by the wedding ring clue. In fact, it is not a wedding ring at all. My wedding ring is home because my gold finger got too fat, and the ring needs adjusting. In a French restaurant, one would expect Poirot to solve the mystery.—Paul

The pictured photographer lives in the land behind the mirrors, a curious place where people place their wedding rings on the right hand instead of the left.

Go Watcher: You are fast. One of our sons sitting across snapped this portrait. So it is not a selfie. Your answer gets the prize at Seasons General Store on Main Avenue. Michelle and Marc will be expecting you.

The dinner at Le Bernardin was an anniversary gift and it was amazing. It was our first time at a Michelin rated restaurant, much less one with 3 Michelin stars.

I give it 5 Blogfingers, not that they are waiting anxiously for our review (as they did in the movie “One Hundred Foot Journey” where the owner was waiting by the phone, champagne bottle in hand, to find out if she would be a 2 star Michelin restaurant) —Paul

Paul takes a photo of his love Eileen at elegant restaurant LeBernardin in NYC. He doesn’t realize Eileen is taking a photo of him!
