This small Monmouth County town is about the same size and age as Ocean Grove and has an even smaller population. In the 19th century, absolutely nothing happened here, but they have  some old houses, some artists studios, a river, and a small restaurant (Woody’s on Main Street) that serves ground beef with onions, tomatoes and mozzarella on a hard roll for $8.00.  It’s quite tasty, but I could only finish half.  Their coffee is pretty good.  (rated 3 Blogfingers).

They have no Wi-Fi.  The waitress said, “Fear not. You can pick up a weak signal from the library.”  Well, there was no signal.  But they do have hot and cold running waitresses who couldn’t do enough from me.

I stopped there on the way back from a pleasure trip—dropped Eileen off at the Amtrak station in Trenton.  Now Trenton’s a town we should all visit.  Let’s hire some buses.

Oh, one more thing;  if you go to Allentown, there may be a language problem—the townsfolk  speak only Hawaiian.

I revisited Allentown again today, returning from the same trip as last time. The town, which actually dates back to the 1700’s was unchanged. There is a fine ice cream parlor where they make their own. It’s worth a day trip for lunch. (about 1/2 hour from OG via Rt. 195 west. The home cooking restaurant is Woody’s Towne Café, and the ice cream place is next door.

Very near our farm. You should have stopped in. You could have met the donkeys.
