“Hi Paul…shot this this morning before the sun came up….The beach replenishment crew has moved well into Bradley Beach and is slowly pulling out of the south end of Ocean Grove….so we can say good bye to the heavy equipment and ships off shore, it would seem….”

MARTHA WAINRIGHT From the soundtrack of the movie The Aviator. The song “I’ll be Seeing You” was written by Fain and Kahil in 1938. It was in a Broadway show called “Right this Way” which closed after 15 performances, but it was huge during WWII when it became an anthem for homesick British and American troops.
Sandman: Why don’t you call the Township engineer, and she can tell you what you want to know. Please let us know what you learn.
thanks. Paul
I don ‘t want to look a gift horse in the mouth but……
It looks like the sand was restored to pretty much exactly where it was the summer before the storm — and not where it was 5 or 6 years ago. And certainly, not where it was when they replenished it last time.
Am I alone in thinking this? My concern is that if we start eroding from where we are now, in 3-5 years (with 3-4 nor’easters) we will again be in a significant sand deficit position. They should have gone 15-20 feet further out. Can someone who has photos of the pier or steals do a comparison of this replenishment vs the last one?
I got my chair out and sat on the brand new beach at the South End today. The boardwalk was crowded with folks escaping their cabin fever nightmares.
But the question of the Middle Boardwalk remains.
Meanwhile, I see posted on Facebook, photos of the NEW boardwalk being built in Asbury Park starting at Convention Hall and south. Excuse me if I’m wrong, but that whole area stood intact with only small sections already repaired. I don’t get it.
Nice to hear that the beach replenishment work in OG is almost completed.
What about the boardwalk? Since reading on your blog about the “happy day ” some weeks ago when you reported FEMA giving the okay for funds to OG for the boardwalk, there has not been anything in the news or on ogcma.org web site. Surely CMA would want to share the news….did I miss something?
Sad, somehow. I would have liked to have a coffee with those workers to tell us all tales, challenges and stories, and remembrances. But they just leave, and sail, with their mechanized army of great magic, onto the next town. (
