I must admit that I know next to nothing about the current music scene , but I do try to pay attention because, despite what some of you might think, if you listen carefully you will find some wonderful new music. Some people say that the love song is dead, but that is far from true.
I especially enjoyed some of the special performances at the 2014 Grammys where new singers and musicians joined with some of the greats of the past, such as when Carol King did a duet with Sarah Bareilles. Much of the new work was beautifully written and performed, but I detected a certain stylistic sameness permeating some of it. Yet isn’t it always like that as music goes through evolutionary changes ? —Paul @Blogfinger
Taylor Swift is a huge talent, and I like her work even if it is aimed at the bubble gum crowd. But Taylor is a rapidly maturing entertainer whose writing and performing are already easing their way into adult music.
“And you throw your head back laughing like a little kid
I think it’s strange that you think I’m funny ’cause he never did
I’ve been spending the last eight months
Thinking all love ever does is break and burn and end,
But on a Wednesday in a cafe I watched it begin again.”
TAYLOR SWIFT: “Begin Again.”
