The Thornley Chapel was built at the corner of Pilgrim Pathway and Mt. Tabor Way. It is named after one of the original members of the OGCMA. It was built in 1889 to be used for children’s services. The original cost of construction including an organ was $2,774.00.
A project is now planned to restore the Chapel, but that has been put off at least until the fall of 2014 due to post-Sandy priorities.

Phillip: Call the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association in Ocean Grove, NJ. I have seen weddings there in the past. Paul @Blogfinger.net
Hello* Thornley Chapel is such a beautiful little church. Is this gem available for a wedding to be held?
JW Thank you. 1889 was when it was built.
Thornley Chapel 1889? Those cars in the photo and the kids’ bowl-cut hair styles look more like the “Boardwalk Empire” era to me.
My granddaughter, now 24, visited from Chicago every summer. She loved learning how to make paper at the summer programs for children held in Thornley; I have two samples of her work hanging proudly here..
I remember going to Thornley Chapel when I was a child. It is one of my best memories because my parents made me go every day. I remember we would sing, hear a story and do crafts. Whenever I visit the Grove, I always make sure to walk by Thornley Chapel.
