Our editors contemplate the number:
PAUL GOLDFINGER: When I was a little kid, I saw an impressive big building and I asked my Dad, “How much did that cost?”
“One million dollars,” he replied.
For the first time I understood how big a million was and what a million dollars could buy.
Now we have a million visits on Blogfinger, and although it’s not a huge building that you can occupy or a pile of money to spend, a few of us worked on it and did it, and in its own way, it is also impressive and worth a lot.
CHARLES LAYTON: Blogfinger just passed a milestone – one million reader visits since the site’s inconspicuous birth in 2009. I still remember Paul coming by my house on his bicycle, telling me he had just put up a website and urging me to contribute something to it.
A million visits is small potatoes in Internet terms – Facebook uploads 250 million photos a day. Pandora streams 19 million hours of music a day. But one million hits still feels like an accomplishment to us. Let’s celebrate.
WAAAAA-HOO!
OK, back to work.
MUSIC: If the old-time crooner Dick Powell were alive today, he would be about a million years old. Give or take. So we’ve chosen him to sing this song of appreciation to our loyal readers and fellow-bloggers.
Reblogged this on Blogfinger and commented:
In November 2012 we celebrated one million hits on Blogfinger. Charles and I commented and Dick Powell sang a song. Now we have reached 2.2 million. So it’s nice to look back and contemplate where we are headed. It’s also time to once again thank those who have helped Blogfinger continue to be innovative, informative and entertaining.

Hi Paul,
Wow! I am so impressed but not surprised. It is a great blog with humor and spectacular pictures.
Blessings,
Jane
Heartiest congratulations on BF’s millionth visitor!
You and colleagues are doing fine work making your blog into an informative and lovable journalistic enterprise.
Glad you liked ‘Lincoln’ —- me too.
Just goes to show that we all have a lot to learn.
The good news is that we are free to do so;
The bad news is that so many do not. But, if they read BF, their pursuit of truth and beauty certainly will be promoted!
Keep up the superb work…..mel
Congratulations! 🙂
I am happy that you Paul, Charles, Ted, Eileen and Mary take the time to keep us in OG informed. I am sorry that I am not giving other names that credit. Everyone at Blogfinger has helped us 🙂 🙂
