Kharaan Ferreira, formerly of Ocean Grove, was charged Wednesday with the burglaries of two adjacent summer homes in the 100 block of Pilgrim Pathway.
Ferreira, 32, was already jailed on charges of theft and attempting to burglarize a house in Bradley Beach on December 20.
The two Ocean Grove burglaries occurred on December 18, Neptune police said. The police said Ferreira entered one of the homes after breaking a bedroom window. The second home was entered without damage.
“Small electronics, cash and jewelry were removed from the homes. These items were not recovered,” a police press release said.

In the earlier Bradley Beach incident, according to press reports, a man walking his dog spotted Ferreira and a female companion near the home of a neighbor. Knowing the neighbor to be away, the dog walker yelled at the couple, who ran away. The dog walker then called police, who found the couple hiding in a vacant room in a rooming house.
Ferreira has been in Monmouth County Jail since that time. Police said he is being held in lieu of $60,000 bail for the Neptune charges — two counts of burglary and theft and a single count of criminal mischief. Police also said he was linked to the Ocean Grove crimes through physical evidence at the two Ocean Grove crime scenes, evidence gathered by police at the time of his arrest in Bradley Beach, and statements to the police. Neptune Detective Paul Monahan brought the charges.
Police said Ferreira had formerly lived on Embury Avenue in Ocean Grove. His Facebook page says he lives in Belmar, is from Brielle and went to Manasquan High School, class of ’98. In what could possibly be seen as a touch of irony, his Facebook page lists his occupation as “real estate.”
