"Are you lookin' at me?"

Ted Aanensen found "a nice breeding ground for mosquitoes" at the non-draining corner of Broadway and Central. Standing water and algae make a lovely soup.
We contacted Victoria Thompson again. She is from the Monmouth County Mosquito Extermination Commission. After the hurricane was over, they sent their “Asian Tiger mosquito team” to OG to set traps. It turns out that the critters were “found in significant numbers throughout OG.” Although the numbers were fairly high, they were not nearly as high as in other places in the county. So the control efforts will be mobilized elsewhere.
“Mosquitoes seen now are products of the heavy rainfalls before Irene filling every nook and cranny,” says Victoria. She says that the Irene rains make it impossible for all these wet zones to dry on their own, so she wants us to advise our readers “to be vigilant in emptying all containers and to be imaginative on where water could be captured and sitting stagnant.” PG
