From Anita DiGiulio of  Lake Avenue in Ocean Grove  (Yes! A citizen activist materializes)

“Friends of Wesley Lake plan a clean-up event on Saturday, April 25 from 9am to 12 noon. Those who want to assist with the clean-up should meet on the Asbury side of the the Emory Street bridge at 9 am. The Friends ask people to wear gloves and bring nets or skimmers, and gardening tools. Participants should check the Facebook page for ‘Friends of Wesley Lake’ for more information and for updates.

“‘The Friends of Wesley Lake’ have been monitoring the meetings of the Wesley Lake Commission and trying to obtain more information about planned remediation activities. Problems with pond weed and garbage in the Lake last summer reinvigorated the organization and led to a previous clean-up event last October.

“Coincidentally, vegetation which may be pond weed suddenly appeared in the Lake on Sunday 4/12 and appeared to grow rapidly. The commission has advised that they will address possible actions against the pond weed at their next meeting on April 21, at 5:30 pm in the Neptune Municipal building.”
