Do you notice the changes? More kids, more teens, more 20’s, and 30’s. There are more young couples–with or without kids. There are more bikers, more coming and going with Asbury Park, and more New Yorkers. And greater appreciation of Ocean Grove as a place of beauty, history, class, culture, education, dogs, and short term renters, etc.
But there is a shortage of affordable housing, parking in season, unsustainable tax increases, more exploitation by the Chamber of Commercials and more crowded tourism. And finally the CMA continues to try and dominate the town in the face of increasing secularism.
Change is inevitable, and the folks who live here should form an organization devoted to the new cultures and demographics. And Neptune Township should pay attention to who lives here now. They should do studies of the town and report on where we are heading.
