When will the DEP rule on the Sunday morning beach closures?

December 16, 2025 by Blogfinger

Haven’t we had enough of this brouhaha? The Asburians have more fun than the Grovers. Paul Goldfinger photo at the Zombie Parade 10/7/23.

According to NJ.com in November:

“The new deadline is Dec. 26, 2025,  five months before the start of the summer beach season. An earlier 45-day extension was granted in September.

“If LaTourette allows the administrative law judge’s earlier ruling to stand, Ocean Grove can resume its 155-year summertime religious tradition on closing the beach on Sunday mornings.”

(LaTourette is the DEP Commissioner who will announce the ruling.)
There was a scoop about the Sunday beach closures for Blogfinger in  April 2023.   That was the start of the to-do over that 3 hour beach pause.
Here is a link to take  you back to 2023.
